I am having an issue with these 10c banknote issues.
I checked the stampsmarter website. It comes down to paper type. I have these stamps that I was transferring from one book to another and wanted to verify Scott numbers. The stamp on the left was under 161 and the right was under 188. Both have the secret mark and 5 lines to the left of the oval. The stamp on the right has very weak design.

Any input would be appreciated.
I bought these in the early 80's from Apfelbaum when they were holding phone auctions. I know what you guys think of that seller, but at the time there were not too many choices for me to find better stamps. This was before the internet.

Hold them up to strong light, you'll see a difference in the papers, the soft paper will be less opaque, mottled.
161 on the left, 188 on the right..
Sorry, these are used, but you can see the mottled paper on the right.

Thanks Littleriverphil. I appreciate your help with these two stamps.

I did make an error in the last post.... the stamp on the right was 161 and 188 on left. I reversed them here.

I found the mottling on the right (188) stamp. The left stamp (161) had a much clearer image from the reverse with the light. I also noticed the hard paper (161) has sharper cut perfs with less single strands hanging on. The website says that is also an indication of paper types. The stamps are not in the best of shape but they are mint OG with a couple flaws. The 161 has a corner bend and thin across the top. My guess is that it got stuck in stock page at top. The 188 is hinged with a perf that is pulled/thinned, but otherwise in good shape. The discoloration at the top center appears to have come from the hinge and not a regum job. But I did get a good deal on them to make up for it, about 15%-18% of catalog ($70 & $125 respectively).

I would like to know how you scanned that image with the light behind it. I tried about 25 times adjusting the light in any way I could think of but the scanner would bleach it out. That is the best I could get of the back with some light.

Actually, that is a photo. I used a rather low tech approach. Took part of a lamp, added a spacer ( for more distance from the light bulb) (duct taped in place), cut two holes in the middle of a 102 card, glued some wider edges on to the card, so that it would lay flat on top of the spacer (tin can), put an 800 lume light bulb in the lamp, and set the stamp loaded card on top, took a few pics.
Here's what those pieces looked like.
