Good Afternoon,

I'm trying to identify this stamp - It's 14x14.5 and has a watermark of wavy lines going vertically. According to stamp world these watermark lines should be going horizontally. If you know the year, catalog number and value I would appreciate it!

Thanks for looking!

Thanks, but I know what the watermarks look like. What I'm trying to identify is the year, catalog number and value please. The perforation and watermark don't match what I have in my catalogs.

Looks like Michel #75 (Scott #72). Mysteriously, neither catalog gives perforation specifications.

There are a couple possibilities here. It could be MiNr 61 x W, MiNr 61 y W, or MiNr 75.

MiNr 61 typically has the horizontal watermark, but varieties do exist with vertical watermark ("x W" or "y W" catalog number suffixes depending on paper type). These are pretty expensive variants.

MiNr 75 is of the same design as MiNr 61, but with the vertical watermark standard, a slightly different color of green, and thicker paper. It's a common, cheap stamp.

It's easy to distinguish MiNr 75 from MiNr 61 x/y W if used because the dates of use are different. Mint is a bit more of a challenge, however, as you have to rely on color and paper differences which are difficult to ascertain from a scan. MiNr 61 is lighter than MiNr 75 and has thinner paper.

Hi,

Yes it is a Michel Nr.75

here a pair from one of my sheet (plate 37)

Second picture, it is a Nr.61y and pay attention to the date of use.

May 1911.

The Nr.61 range from 1890 to 1911 and Nr.75 from January 1911. it was a short period before the release of the Luitpold serie Nr.76 to Nr.91

Both Nr.61y and Nr.75 have been reused in 1920.

Best regards

Hornet
