For new members, or new stamp collectors, here is one of my ideas.

Now then I do not claim these are all the shades, just what shades I happen to have on hand.

This page fits into the front of one of my stock books. My stock books are 3 ring binders with a clear pocket on front and on back. In these pockets I display various revenue stamps. Right now I have about 15 or so stock books for revenue stamps. So I have to be creative because that would be 30 displays for all stock books.

All the displays are of revenue stamps.

For new stamp collectors, just a suggestion shades is a neat way to collect, at least for my purpose.

I'm intrigued that there was so much color variation. Was this caused by fading or was there no care for ink color consistency by the printer?

Fading, environmental exposure, unstable pigments, variance in color mix... pretty much anything and everything.

If your really want to see a wide variety of color on the same stamp, see the following links from my collection. They are all over the map.
