Hello, I have this cover with a Grafton Centre, Nh cds. The only thing I could find on this post office was it was in operation from 1852-1893. The only mention I can find for this town is a list of stage coach times, other than that nothing. Can someone direct me to where I can find information on this post office? Your help, as always, will be most gratefully appreciated.
David
I had to crop this down to this as the optimizer would not let me take the width lower than 370. The return address is:
Fidelity Lodge #75
I.O.G.T. (Int'l Order of Good Templars, West Canaan, Nh. and was posted to West Concord, NH.

Thanks to all for the quick replies. The information you provided was pretty much what I was looking for. I just wondered where the town and post office were located as the only information I could find was on Jim Forte website as to dates it was in operation. I am most gratefull for the information.

Hello again, I never thought to use the word postmaster in my search and that made all the difference. Your first reply got me to wondering if Grafton Centre was a town or just a post office for the railroad to pick up outgoing mail for the county. That led me to this site. Thanks to your replies, now I know. That is what I love about SCF. There is always someone who can answer your question and get you on the right track. Thanks again
David

Grafton Centre, 1852-1893, and Grafton Center, 1893-1955, the same town.
The minor spelling change came about as part of the standardization of city names by the Post Office Department in the early 1890s.
