Have you done your due diligence on these two stamps?

Stamp collecting is about perforations, subtle color differences and watermarking among many other fine factors.

Have you checked all of this information and more with the Scott US Specialized Catalogue?

My best Postage Due find was a full sheet of J94 dull gum from USPS for $6.00.

Here's a nice postage due find. I got this in a mixture of precancels.

The plate number was a dead giveaway as only one stamp was printed using this plate. This is Scott J57. This can be verified with any Durland's plate number catalog.

While looking through the rest of the lot, I found a second one.

J29 and J30 are commonly misidentified. There is a slight difference in shade between the two. If you have an ultraviolet lamp look at those two stamps to see what color they glow. J29 and J30 will have an orangeish glow, the next series will not.

Where would one find more information on tagging etc of postage due stamps, which have it, which don't, what to look for etc for ID purposes? Be it called tagging, luminescence or whatever term you wish to use, I'm sure everyone understands where I'm going with this. I don't see anything re: tagging etc in the US Specialized & have not found any literature mentioned nor anything Googling. This thread and an earlier one have really piqued my interest.

Ok, looks like no literature or publications exist that pertain to tagging or luminescence for US postage due stamp identifications. I'll strike out on my own identifying them, trial & error<sigh>.

Grandpa - Other research avenues are possible. For example, you can search the philatelic union catalog here,
https://stamps.org/Union-Catalog-How-to-Search
and if you are an APS member, get copies of articles or books relatively easily.
