I am pretty sure these stamps are from Bosnia; does anyone have any info as to who the people shown are and if these stamps are of any significance? Thanks.
the 4 are Emperor Charles I of the Austrian Hapsburg dynasty. the one on the right is Arch-Duke Franz Ferdinand, who was later assassinated in Sarajevo, Bosnia, triggering WWI.
Bosnia was under Austrian rule at the time these were issued.
Thanks, I looked it up and Franz Ferdinand was assassinated on the day shown on the stamp: June 28 1914. Would this stamp have been a commemorative stamp for him that was made during World War 1?
The charity stamps were issued on 28 June 1917 to commemorate Franz Ferdinand's assassination, and to benefit the fund for a memorial church in Sarajevo. They were issued with perf 12 1/2 and perf 11 1/2.
