Kinda surprising for a hobby that is dying.

/sarcasm

ASG is being launched by the same conglomerate that owns NGC (one of the top 2 players in coin authentication and grading) and PMG (currency) and CGC (comic books).

ASG will initially focus on the philatelic market in mainland China but plans to expand to other markets, including Hong Kong and the United States, in the future.

This does not really serve the hobby market so it says nothing about the health of the hobby. It serves the alternative investment market which appears to have specific cultural attraction in Asia. This is for people who want wealth represented tangibly in something other than precious metals, jewelry or real estate.

I looked all over their website and couldn't find what specifically is "guaranteed," other than "grading and authenticity."

Note that they use the word "guaranty" in their name, instead of "guarantee:"

https://abovethelaw.com/career-file...nd-guaranty/

Which I take this usage to mean that, as it is used as a noun, it is just a thing, like a piece of paper for example.

If they had used "guarantee" though, then it's a noun and a verb: some action would (presumably) take place, like refunding money if their certificate was incorrect, for example.

Interesting...

Jim

Their magnifiers go up to 5X . Heh

All other obvious issues aside I'd want to know who their experts are.

5X is fine for a basic once over looking for the obvious, but useless for most stamp expertising needs. I'll bet they use stronger lenses to look at coins and paper money.
