Is the stamp on the right a variation, or just faded? Scott lists this as North German Postal Union #13, 1/4 Gr. Lilac. There is a color variation, red violet.
I know stamp terminology can be odd. Who would normally think of "lake" as red. But "lilac" as reddish? Seems strange to me.
I'd appreciate your comments.
