Here are images of the four stamps in a set depicting carved heads, printed by photogravure on granite paper, and issued by Papua and New Guinea on February 5, 1964, Scott Nos. 178-181.

"Woman," a bronze sculpture by Japanese artist Morie ("Rokuzan") Ogiwara (1879-1910), printed by photogravure, and issued by Japan on October 27, 1981, Scott No. 1405, plus a photo of Ogiwara in his atelier.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting a study entitled "Kneeling Woman," by French painter Charles Le Brun (1619-1690), designed and engraved by Pierre Béquet, and issued by France on April 28, 1973, Scott No. 1360, Y&T No. 1742.

Here is an image of a semi-postal (charity) stamp designed and engraved by Jules Piel after an oil on mahogany panel painting entitled "Young Girl with Doves" by French artist Jean-Baptiste Greuze (1725-1805), and issued by France on December 18, 1954 to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Red Cross, Scott No. B292, Y&T No. 1007, plus an image of Greuze's original masterpiece.

Spain - 2015 - The first Picasso

Just some from one of my favorite painters

Winston Churchill might not be very well known for his paintings, but painting peaceful landscapes was his favorite pastime. Umm Al Quwain (one of the smaller Emirates on the west coast of the Emirate peninsula) showed Churchill at his hobby in Morocco; the painting may have been the one he was doing at that time. The English country estate is Chartwell, his home in Kent. Winston Churchill died on the 24th of January, 1965.

Not exactly a gallery hang but I've a soft spot for illumination art.

The Flatey Book is the largest medieval Icelandic manuscript, comprising 225 written and illustrated vellum leaves. It contains mostly sagas of the Norse kings as found in the Heimskringla.

Here is an image of an airmail stamp depicting a wooden carving of a mother and child, Gabon's gift to the United Nations, designed by Laotian artist Ky Phungchaleun, printed by lithography (Cartor), and issued by Gabon on March 15, 1986, Scott No. C275.

Happy Birthday to Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni (1475-1564), commonly known as Michelangelo, an Italian sculptor, painter, architect, poet, and engineer of the High Renaissance who is widely considered one of the greatest artists of all time. Here is an image of an airmail stamp featuring a portrait of Michelangelo, designed by Pierre Béquet, engraved by Pierre Forget, and issued for use in Afars and Issas on June 26, 1975, Scott No. C93, plus an image of a sketched portrait of Michelangelo by Italian painter and sculptor Daniele da Volterra (c. 1509-1566).

Here are images of the two booklet stamps publicizing Gustav III's Museum of Antiquities in Stockholm, designed by Swedish-American artist Toni Hanzon-Kurrasch, combined engraved and lithography, and issued by Sweden on August 21, 1997, Scott Nos. 2246 & 2247, Facit Nos. 2034 & 2035, plus a photograph of this Endymion sculpture. Note: In Greek mythology, there are varying versions of how Endymion, the most handsome mortal man in the world, came to be granted eternal youth, but was also placed into an eternal slumber. Bonus: Etiquettes.
