Here is an image of a stamp designed by Polish graphic artist Henryk Chylinski (1936- ) after a portrait of Chilean poet-diplomat Pablo Neruda (1904-1973) by Ecuadorian painter and sculptor Oswaldo Guayasamín (1919-1999), printed by lithography, and issued by Poland on December 31, 1974, Scott No. 2072, plus an image of a photograph of Oswaldo Guayasamín standing in front of one of his other paintings.

Happy Birthday to Austrian Baroque painter Johann Michael Rottmayr (1654-1730). Here is an image of a stamp featuring a portrait of Rottmayr, designed by Austrian artist Vinzenz Gorgon (1891-1961), engraved by Ferdinand Lorber (1883-1957), and issued by Austria on August 4, 1954 to commemorate the third centenary of the painter's birth, Scott No. 594, plus an image of a self-portrait by Johann Michael Rottmayr which may have been a model (in mirror image) for this stamp's design.

Armando Spadini (1883-1925) was an Italian painter born in Florence. Here is an image of a stamp designed after a painting by Spadini of an artist and his model, engraved by Tullio Mele (1929-2008), and issued by Italy on June 20, 1975 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Spadini's death, Scott No. 1193, plus an image of Armando's original (1910) painting.

Ryusei Kishida (1891-1929) was a Japanese artist best known for his realistic yoga (Western-style) portraiture, but also for his nihonga (traditional Japanese-style) paintings in the 1920s. Here is an image of a stamp reproducing a painting by Kishida entitled "Reiko," printed by photogravure, and issued by Japan on April 20, 1973, Scott No. 1138, plus an image of a detail from a similar oil on wood painting by Ryusei Kishida entitled "Young Girl Standing" (1923).

Frederick I (1122-1190), also known as Frederick Barbarossa, was Holy Roman Emperor from 1155 until his death. Here is an image of a stamp depicting a gilded bronze bust (c. 1165) of Frederick Barbarossa which was used as a reliquary in Cappenberg Abbey, designed by Lohrer, printed by lithography, and issued by Germany on April 14, 1977 to publicize Staufer Year 1977, "Time of the Hohenstaufen" Exhibition, held in Stuttgart in connection with the 25th anniversary of Baden-Württemberg, Scott No. 1247, Michel No. 933, plus a photo of the Barbarossa head reliquary.

Hans Lynge (1906-1988) was a Greenlandic painter, sculptor, print maker, author, dramatist, and politician whose art often drew on themes of Greenlandic legend and mothers. Here is an image of a stamp featuring a portrait of the artist and depicting running figures bearing torches, designed by Danish graphic artist Ivalu Risager, engraved by Arne Kühlmann (1939- ), and issued by Greenland on September 5, 1991, Scott No. 243, Facit No. 222, plus a photograph of Hans Lynge.

Happy Birthday to Jusepe de Ribera (1591-1652), a Spanish Tenebrist painter and print maker called Lo Spagnoletto ("the Little Spaniard") by his contemporaries and early writers.
