Hello, I am new to this forum, I have 2 big boxes of old stamps - I am starting out with a stamp album, I am not sure how old it is but I believe it comes from the early 1920s or 30s as the stamps are pretty old. In this book there is the stamp pictured above. I have not yet decided how to handle this album, it looks like there are some semi-rare stamps in the book from my limited experience with stamps.

I have a question which I wish someone could answer for me about this stamp - I found this stamp on this site: https://findyourstampsvalue.com/sample/3 under Lucky Stamp Finders - it is listed as being worth 25 thousand dollars, and then I go to ebay and find what looks like the same stamp all over for 99 cents. It is confusing to me. I know this is all relying on condition, grade etc., but such a wide disparity is very confusing.

I have uploaded a picture of the stamp I have, it is still in the book, I am not sure what I will do with it at this point, the book or the stamps - I am still in research mode.

If anyone can tell me what is going on with this I would very much appreciate it - maybe that website has over-inflated prices, just do not know what is going on

Thank you very much for any kind of feedback you can give me, Julie

Welcome!

You will see that this stamp comes in many different varieties (although they all have the same design). But much of what you will need to learn can be found on the Stamp Smarter website. Its a great hobby.
Don

P.S. - Always assume that you will have the most common stamps. Every now and then, in very rare situations, you may find one of the uncommon varieties. But the fun is in the hunt!

Hello Chasa,

Thank you so much for the information about this stamp. When I looked over the list of the different varieties of this stamp I realized just how much more I have to learn about stamps, my heart sort of sank, but I looked over the list and by the description that is the same number I picked because of the color description, but of course I am not sure about anything so I figured there was a lot more to it based on that chart.

Can anyone tell me if there is a good Scott catalog database that is available online?

Thank you so very much for your help and information. Julie
