...and this is sadly only a cover front.

Hey All,
I'm trying to make sense of this cover front packed full of crazy - lots of noise with all the markings. I don't have an absolute year date on it, but if the official handstamp is from the sender I would assume the sender was a Prussian official from Brühl - unless it was added later. I'm uncertain of the original destination since I cannot make out the handwriting. It traveled through several places - Sangerhausen (Sept. 5th), Hennef (?), Waldbroel (Sept. 11), Neunkirchen (Sept. 11), and Coeln (Sept. 13). It also looks like it returned back to Brühl (Sept. 17, the last dated town postmark)? Is this a safe assessment on what I have so far or am I missing something or just wrong in part(s)? There's also another arrival postmark dated Sept. 19, but no town name. Any ideas?

Wow! I wish you luck in sorting this one out.

It seems to have bounced about in a small area around Cologne except for a trip to Sangerhausen near Leipzig.

The *ENNEF postmark is indeed from HENNEF east of Bonn.

The StampsX website states this postmark was in use in 1873 (but I guess this is based on only one dated example).

The same site gives a date of 1875 for the SANGERHAUSEN postmark and c. 1850 for the WALDBROEL postmark.
