I'm looking for a tool to perforate my own home made cinderella stamps.

Can somebody make a recommendation? Thanks!

Thanks, mate! But, I've seen this video a million times - its the only thing I've been able to find through searching the internet. Is there a tool out there, like a pair of scissors or some other roller cutter out there? I don't have a sowing machine to modify... thanks!

Jbu, you can make rouletted stamps inexpensively. If you google "rotary cutter skip blades" this will steer you in the right direction.

The NT Cutter and OLFA (both made in Japan) shown in the Amazon product list are for making roulette type (dotted) lines, so I believe they won't match the request.

It seems that the definition of philatelic term "perforation" is not well understood in general...

Please forgive me. I am a simple person who tends to speak in practical terms. If one wants to prepare stamps for separation, they have three choices: perforation, die cutting (for self adhesive stamps), or rouletting. For all practical purposes, a perforating machine, laser cutter, or similar device is out of the question for people of ordinary means.

The first responder gave a sound, practical suggestion to the poster's problem of separating sheets of personally made cinderellas. Since this solution was not possible, my suggestion was for another cost effective solution.

I' m not sure that such items are a good thing for our hobby. Slippery slope if you know what I mean

Thanks Hironobu. The rotary blade "perforators" that you posted does not create a postage stamp type of perforation. They just create straight cuts for separating paper, etc.

Postage stamp perforator is hard to find!

How do all the cinderella stamp makers out here make their sexy postage stamp perforations???

The company that prints the stamps for them will also do the perforating.

The most common pin hole perforator that is used in the cinderella stamp market appears to be the old antique Rosback stroke perforator (1888). Most of the so-called perforators on the market today are actually rouletters. See http://www.rosbackcompany.com/images/Foot_Perf.jpg

That is interesting, thanks. I'm a little disappointed to find that stamp perforating is very difficult to come by.

Are there any other options out there to create your own postage stamp perforations?

Is there any such thing as pre-perforated sheets to print on?

Thanks again.

There is a couple in Ontario who do stamp restoration work, including perforating. They have been on this board talking about the work they do.

It took me a little while to find this again, but there's someone who issues their own local post stamps *and* has a print shop, including a perforator.

Here's the link to the front page of their site:

http://www.theolatheposte.com/

But, they also sell pre-perforated paper. It's not cheap, but it's more affordable than having the stamps printed elsewhere, if your printer is good enough.

They sell a variety of different items in their online store. I found the paper under "ARTISTAMP supplies":

I've had a slow-burning interest in doing something like this myself, so, if you follow through with making your own cinderellas, I'd definitely be interested in hearing your experiences with it!

Philatarium - thanks for the links - I'll let you know how it goes. I've had this "slow-burning interest" in doing my own cinderallas for a long time so now that its hot I would like to move on it and see how it goes. Problem is, I hate digital graphic software and digital graphics in general. I much rather prefer simple rubber stamp mail artisan cinderella, but we'll see how it goes.

Very interesting, Jbu. I respect wanting to go "old school" with this!

I failed to include a link to their page where they can handle all the printing details. It's a little too rich for my blood, but it looks like they do very good work. (Plus, they have a particular interest in this subject.)

http://www.theolatheposte.com/main/pricing.shtml

(And just for the record, I am not affiliated with them in any way.)
