I've had this stamp for a long time. I sold it in 2005, but bought it back shortly afterwards.
For a plater, this is a pretty cool example of 99R2, Ty III, Scott 21, perforated. At least I think it is.

All of the fun is at the top, bottom and right sides. The left side is the least interesting on this variety, and so getting it centered to the left is good if you don't want to spend $20K on one.

txstamp, that is a fantastic example of the plate flaws on 99R2, and a great story!

Your comment about getting one centered to the left is so appropriate. That's what I like to call favorable centering, a term I've used with some of my fortunately off-center stamps.

Here is a strip of three that I have been looking at. It has a line midway between stamps two and three. There are quite a few stamps on plate 2 that have a similar line. I checked the alignment and it is almost even all the way across (stamp 1 - even - even). The best lineup seems to be right pane, stamps 6-7-8 (stamp 1 - even - slightly lower). I believe this strip to be 16-18R2. Can someone else take a look and give me their thoughts? The strip was separated and rejoined (not by me).

I'm not getting much time to do plating - quick thought : ornament N looks too short on your leftmost stamp to be 16R2. What do you think?

Just a first quick reaction.

Hi njs - this is a good time to have stamps around; bummer.

Txstamp, you are right about orn N. There are very few positions that are weak at that point. It makes me think that it may be more like 16-18L2. Position 16L2 has a weak orn N and may fir the group better.

It is 16-17-18L2 and Orn N is the signature there.

I was actually thinking that yesterday when I posted, but didn't have time to look it up.

That is what I get for failing to label my stamps right away after plating them and come back to it a year later and forgot that I had it plated already. I put my plated stamps in oversized Scott black mounts, size 31, and label them at the top of the mounts. I have about 40+ more unplated and about 70 unplated perforated ones to look at. I just purchased 10 more that were already plated that I need for my plate 1 late reconstruction.

That is a very attractive stamp. I am not an expert by far. It is either an example of a full design or as close as I have seen lately!
