I knew this was a very scarce cancel, but thought I might possibly score a deal. The stamp itself catalogs $0.50. The listing was at $31 until late this afternoon. I had a $125 snipe set up... and it never even registered. Winning bid: $335.

Which puts it at pretty much full retail.

Someone got a beautiful printed cancel.

I bid on it too, but I knew it would go high. Eric has an example that is not as nice and he is asking $350 for it. I only bid $51, just to keep my hand in.

Wow! Pretty stamp with pretty cancel, but for this un-initiated, what is so special?

If memory serves, Eric's example is a different type, the date being manuscript.

I actually bought this exact cancel at Chicagopex, but it was on a different denomination and this example is a better strike.

Peter: It is a very scarce proprietary medicine printed cancel, the company was located in Coaticook, Quebec, Canada.

It would be interesting to know what the winner actually bid. The $335 was actually the next increment over my high bid.

The example currently available is the same as this one, exactly one year later.
