The Iceboat Transportation stamp was like five other Cottrell issues - the press was replaced by the B-press while supplies of the stamp ran low. Hence the issue without the line, it was a different printing. And here is where the Scott catalog does not make any sense. When this happened to the 8.3 cent Ambulance the catalog number was changed from 2128a to 2231 for the B-press issue. The Iceboat Cottrell issue is Scott 2134. The B-press issue is Scott 2134b. Go figure!

The first strip is Scott 2134 and was printed on the Cottrell press, which created a line where the 2 rounded plates joined together. The second strip is Scott 2134b, which was printed on the B Press using a single seamless sleeve and produced no line.

The note in the Scott Catalogue says "Type II design is ¼mm narrower (17¼mm) than the original stamp (17½mm) and has block tagging. No. 2134 has overall tagging."
