https://www.ebay.com/itm/US-Stamps-...AOSwYxBaPvpUHas anyone else noticed that the uninformed ebay sellers and/or those of "questionable" integrity never offer "rare" dollar-value Colombians or Zepps? Conversely, it is usually worthless stamps that have been trimmed, re-perfed, or otherwise altered to impersonate a rarity. At least, if the unsuspecting buyer were to receive a $2 trans-Mississippi or a $5 Colombian with undisclosed problems, it still has basal value. Initially, this buyer is going to think they got the deal of a lifetime until they show their prize to a knowledgeable collector or dealer....and, what is with that accompanying expertizing cert??

I sent the seller the following email and cc'd ebay: As you may or may not be aware, your Scott #388 on ebay is a fake. It is a worthless perforated stamp that has been crudely trimmed at the bottom and re-perforated at the right. The APB is already out on Stamp Community Family Forum, and it has also been reported to ebay as a fake. The bogus, no-name cert is no better that the stamp. We actually had an APS collector chime in from Centennial Colorado stating that there is no Leo Street in that town. I suggest that you cancel all bids, and remove this listing before an unsuspecting buyer gets hurt. A copy of this correspondence will be forwarded to ebay, as well. If you click on the map of the Facebook page it comes up as E. Arapahoe Road; perhaps the name was changed at some point. |

Irrespective of the street, the stamp is fake and the certificate is questionable, at best. |

A committee of one. Well, at least the Expert was conscientious enough to point out that the used stamp has no gum. I guess it takes an expert to figure that one out. I mean, that's always a deal-breaker with me - when a seller fails to disclose that a used stamp has no gum. The buyer of this fine example of 21st century hobo art sure dodged that bullet... because it's certified, he won't have to worry about the gum condition on his used stamp while the rest of us toss and turn all night worrying about such things. Of course, it should go without saying that when "388" is penciled on back, the certificate is a mere formality anyway, or something.
By the way, when you hold a used stamp without original gum in your hand, which direction is it supposed to curl? |

Not too shabby for a couple days of work. Total realization: $1,319.44, and I'm guessing it's all profit (LOL).

"Not too shabby for a couple days of work. Total realization: $1,319.44, and I'm guessing it's all profit (LOL)." ....just another day in the office @ Anthony's (and they are hardly the only one). Now, multiply that times 365, then multiply that times 20, and that's case-in-point why ebay is not doing their job. |
