Hi all,

I do not collect Korea specifically but came upon this in a WW album where I had found some other fairly valuable stamps. Scott has a listing for the 5d (CV$1200) (imperf x 11) with vertical lines in the paper. From what I can tell this meets the requirements with some concerns:

1. clearly the sides are not even but not sure if this was common for the stamp
2. There are vertical lines in the paper fibers but not sure if there needs to be visible lines on the back as well.

Any help or guidance that you can provide would be much appreciated.

Great to see a stamp held by tweezers rather than fingers.
Well done you.

Query: Does not Imperf x 11 indicate imperf at top ? not sides.

Opinion:
Early North Korean stamps had very wide margins, I suspect your example has been hand trimmed.

I hope you can prove me wrong, but the attraction to a high catalogue value, have persons willing to deceive.

Good Luck.

Thanks Rod. I am curious to know if all stamps of this issue have the vertical lines in the paper or just the 5d. That might help me with the investigation.

All early Korean Communist stamps have been reproduced by the present North Korea Government as reprints .It takes a specialist to tell the difference .
