Quote: The lot sold for $164.00. I contacted the buyer and she was adamant she wanted the lot, so I shipped it. She was ecstatic about it... Maybe she was into crafts and wanted them to plaster all over a lamp or something. |

Dudley - For fun I contacted the seller and told him that I would buy it if he could explain what is exactly, why it is "rare" and so on. He responded that he was putting "Grams" collection up for sale, that he would have more and that though he could not give me any more information on the stamp I might be more knowledgeable than he and please make an offer. ebay is a cesspool I used to have my toe in but the stench is now too strong. Far too many people scamming and sitting on the couch picking their whatever waiting for a bite on their rubbish. |

No doubt Rev. This buyer wrote me again and shared this nugget. " Everything in life is for sale. Let the buyer decide." A "rare" stamp dealer and a philosophy Major. Perfect for ebay. |

I wonder what he would say if someone told him that at least 21 BILLION of these were issued. Probably would not believe it. |

This type of selling is common at many flea markets. They are just hoping to find someone to buy it. It only takes a few (more money than philatelic knowledge) to make to make some money.
All these shows about treasures in the attic or those Pawn store shows make people optimistic. |

The seller with the "side perf" stamp amazingly also has several used stamps, on piece, listed as "unhinged". I guess they would be at that. Somehow also a wavy cancel has now become a "flag" cancel. |

I agree, he seems to understand sports cards… how could he not understand to apply the same experience to stamps (or any other collectable)? Perhaps someone should contact him and tell him that you have a crisp, mint 1985 Topps Mark McGwire card as shown here for the bargin price of $200. Back in the day, these cards commanded more than $200 each. But that was before McGwire hitting record was broken and certainly before his career and legacy was sunk by steroids. (Today you can buy these cards for $1-$2). But tell this fellow that you have this "EXTREMLY RARE" card and that "Everything in life is for sale. Let the buyer decide." I wonder if he would understand then? Don |

Just out of curiosity I had to go look, now I don't consider myself a expert, but who does this guy think he's fooling on this Robert E lee, it would seem like even a true novice would do some homework before purchasing a item like this. This is what stamp smarter is for people, use the tools provided to you, I'm speaking to the buyers. This is just NUTS. |
