Hello From Southern California

SO January and wearing shorts in sunny Southern California. New to collecting and a bit overwhelmed by how technical it seems to be. I inherited a collection with many early to mid 1800 US stamps. Trying to figure what exactly they are is a tough one. My wife has not seen me in days because my nose in buried in these stamps non-stop. Hoping to learn from all you long timers and gain some knowledge in the world of stamps.

Welcome ! Every stamp can have a story and many differences between look a like issues.

The first US stamp was issued in 1847 so not sure your comment about early 1800's. Post an image of a sample and we can give you more guidance.

Ask any questions you like about your collection. I love 19th century US stamps - some of the best produced of all time.

As for the weather, we have the opposite - January in Australia and we're in tracksuit pants. Not for long though. 100 degree days coming later this week.
