How can I find out about this stamp.

I bought a small collection and it was labeled Scott 409. It has no watermark.

Thanks ahead.

The separation method is called a Schermack perforation, used for vending machines.

If you have an interest in US stamps, you really need to get a Scott US Specialized catalog. Your local library likely has one. You can also get older versions at a fraction of the price of the latest version. Good luck.

#409 has a single line watermark... your stamp is an unwatermarked #482
