Here are scans of a Canal Zone J27 plate block with the full offset of the plate number (only one plate 123718 was used to print J27) on the reverse that I bought recently at surprisingly reasonable price. What I don't understand how only the plate number could be offset and not the stamps too. Could something have been placed between the sheets as they were stacked? Any ideas? I've never seen such a clear offset.

Hi postagedueguy. I have no answer, but have you contacted the Canal Zone Study Group about this set-off? I am sure they will be interested in this,

Peter

Thanks for doing that. Please let me know what they say. I looked through my collection of Canal Zone J25 - J29 plate blocks and sheets and found these oddities.
