I have viewed numerous Scott #1683 under LW UV and there appears two distinct ink varieties. In the top stamp below the ink for the pictured device is reactive under LW while the bottom version is not. When viewed under normal light there is no distinct difference. I haven't seen this listed in any searches I have performed. I would be interested in any comments or feedback.

Could the difference be that the two stamps have different amounts of brightener added to the paper?

No, this is a reaction of the ink (luminescent ink), not the paper

That was my thought as well, that one has luminescent ink and the other doesn't. Which leads me to believe there are two varieties of this stamp. No difference in tagging is observed in case anyone was wondering.

I think I have several of these stamps. When I get a chance, I'll check mine and see what happens...
