Hello community,

I go to New Orleans Feb 21 for a work conference. Would I be going about this correctly, any advice?...

1. Prepare an envelope with a cachet design (conference theme/artwork)
2. Affix a [somewhat] relevant stamp (not many physical therapy stamps out there)
3. Take it to a post office in NoLa the first day of the conference
4. Ask the person at the counter to postmark it OR would you suggest just dropping it in outgoing mail addressed to myself and have it postmarked and cancelled?

I think I would essentially be replicating what stamp show organizers do when they offer covers commorating their event.

Many thanks for your input, especially on Step 4 above

The sponsors should provide the PO with a table/booth at the event.
Get hand-back service on your covers.
Putting your covers in the normal mailstream is just asking for additional canceling and processing marks.

No, but there are plenty of stamps about gruesome diseases that eventually require physical therapy ... and/or wheelchairs, crutches, etc.

Cheers,

Or you could use a Franklin Roosevelt stamp. He was in a wheelchair but he never let it get in his way of becoming President and a great one at that.
