I have this postal card and I have not seen one like this before.

It carries a label from the United States Government Printing Office

The 1 cent Jefferson is printed on top of the label. the other letters are printed on top of that. The label is not translucant.

I would appreciate any info on this card.

Thank you,

Johan.

Morning Johan and all,

Years ago back in the 1970's I was shown two embossed envelopes connected by a very similar looking paper band. I was told it was the bundling band (strap) used to package 100 0f the same items together for sales and shipping. My guess is your item has the remnants of a similar band?

Best regards, Russ Ryle

Hi Russ and Johan,
That was my thought too but why would the band wrap around only one card as shown?

Thank you for your thoughts.

Some additional info. The band on the front and back are not connected on the edges.

The lettering on the back is also upside down compared to the lettering on the front.

This does not seem logic for a band wrap. The front and back band are put on seperatly.

UPSS Postal Card Catalog has an entry for a vertical paste-up:

S37EPUV-2

Which has tape as shown in the OP, 38 mm wide.

Catalog value $450.

Johan: examine the edge carefully. You should be able to see where the two pieces of card stock are taped together.

Thank you Thomas Galloway.

After a carefull examination I found the place were the two pieces were pasted together.

Shown is a picture on which a yellow line indicates the spot.

Everybody thanks for their thoughts and input.
