Good Afternoon,

I'm trying to confirm this stamps perforation please. I am seeing 14 x 14.5 with my stamp gauge. The stamp is scanned at 300 dpi currently. I couldn't get 14 all around. Believe plate number is 69.

02

03 - 300 dpi stamp only

Thanks for looking

Souldjer, when using a stamp gauge correctly the teeth on the stamp should correspond exactly with the "teeth" on the gauge

FYI - Using digital stamp gauge online - used 600 dpi scan:

Marker #left15 saved. Top:14.09 Right:14.41 Bottom:14.16 Left:14.38

A lot closer to 14.5 than it is to 14 from the digital measurement.

The 1d red plates begin at 71, so this can't be 69. Probably 89, unless the postmark is hiding a "1". The gauge doesn't appear to be lined up exactly - and what may be cut, rather than torn, perfs don't make this easier.

Sorry, I have a tendency to post too quickly. 69 were the numbers I could make out. More than likely you are right, could also be 169... hard to tell as it is covered by cancel.

M.W.R belongs to the Mid Wales Railway company and is a reasonably scarce perfin.

Great link Rod.

I think this is Brecon (116) where MWR had a station (and later a shared station).

Brecon is a little west of Tallyllyn and isn't shown on the map here for some reason.

I see the map on the Cambrian Railways page on the same link shows the line running into Brecon.

Brecon's a lovely town. I spent a very happy week's holiday there many years ago.
