Hi Rod, That is a lovely sketch by the Japanese illustrator Suekichi Akaba (1910-1990) - maybe it is part of the story of the little white Mongolian horse which he illustrated. He is known for his drawings for children's books. I found a scan of the book, showing that it has been translated to English. An umbrella with the lotus effect, that's worth a new patent. Did you spend the holidays at the beach?

Slovenia chose a cute fish with a parasol for their EUROPA vacation stamp of 2004.

Hi Rod, Do even the fish down under need a parasol at this time of year as well?, take care in the heat! K.

A small sheet of three stamps in honor of Hans Christian Andersen's 200th birthday and his fairy tales. One of them is about the Chinese nightingale who sang for the Emperor and cured him with its song. Old illustrations were used for the stamps.

"The Engagement of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Lingtai", one stamp in the set of five (2003) telling the ancient tragic love story of the couple; the story is also known by the name "Butterfly Lovers" because the couple emerges from the grave as butterflies. Hong Kong stamp of 2018.

Hello Alexey, That is a lovely drawing from the set of stamps illustrating the novel "Dream of the Red Chamber" written by Cao Xueqin. It is one more of China's great classical novels, written in the middle of the 18th century. Good stamp for the snowy times around New Year - have a happy one! K.
