A beautiful paradise bird-wing butterfly shares the minisheet with colorful umbrellas for the Bangkok philatelic exhibition of 1993. Maybe this huge butterfly was chosen because the first description of it was published by Otto Staudinger just 100 years earlier.

A lovely picture for the last day of the year!

Happy New Year! Jelka Reichmann is a well-known illustrator of children's stories in Slovenia. Her sweet kiss was chosen for the New Year's stamp of 2004.

The rocket festival of Laos is colorful and loud. Even the rockets are decorated with umbrellas! Nowadays the huge hand-made rockets are paraded to the launching site on pickups. The festival begins the rice-planting season. stamp of 1995

"Twinkle" was the comics magazine for girls which was published from 1968 to 1999. Twinkle, protecting a robin, and Nurse Nancy were honored on one of the 10 stamps of 2012 featuring British comics. One of the early covers.

The painting "The Parasol" by the Spanish artist Goya has already appeared earlier on the thread (page 13): this stamp from the Gambia (or an agency) shows almost the same detail.

Even Manama (Dependency of Ajman; probably an agency) had that same painting put on a sheetlet - I wonder what Goya would have said! 1968

The three Kings/Magi have arrived with gifts for Jesus and Mary in Bethlehem. In the background, seen through the window, their entourage with the three royal umbrellas. 1971 The 6th of January is traditionally Three King's day in many countries.

Algeria also used the protective umbrella symbol for calling attention to the national campaign for early immunization, 1987.

Another Norman Rockwell painting with an umbrella: "Pals" or "The Homecoming". And the cover of The Saturday Evening Post (1924) on which the painting appeared. Grenada stamp of 1982.
