A few items in a Japanese child's room, even a yellow umbrella; issued for 'Children's Books Day' in 2017. I don't know if the color yellow has a special meaning for Japanese umbrellas, but it did for Christo's umbrella project 1984-1991. Thousands of yellow and blue umbrellas were scattered in the landscapes of California and Japan.

The International Art Post issued a small set of cinderellas in 1992. One of them was called the 'Umbrella Post 93' and shows two of the yellow umbrellas in the California countryside. A scan of one of the sketches for Christo's project.

A simple drawing of a lady with an umbrella being carried in a rickshaw celebrates 100 years of transport; I assume this refers to public transport in the city. Rickshaws are still there and great for seeing sights at a sensible pace.

The first post-war harvesters (S-3/4 or SK-3/4) didn't have a driver's cabin. The only protection was an umbrella

Another umbrella providing a bit of shade to the operator of a harvester. Nowadays the drivers usually have a cabin which also protects them and the high-tech machinery from clouds of dust. DDR 1953

(Hi Alexey, That's a good one. K.)

The Swiss chocolate company Tobler issued a vast number of advertising cinderellas in different styles and languages. You can still buy their products all over the world; their logo is now Mt. Matterhorn - and their most well-known chocolate bar comes in the the shape of that peak.

Yemen (or an agency for that country) issued a large set of stamps in the 1960s called "The Cultural Olympiad". It features famous paintings by European artists. This one shows the painting by Anthony van Dyck (1599-1641) of the Marchesa Grimaldi and her umbrella bearer and can be seen in the National Gallery in Washington.

The Nestle Company advertised for their 'flour' produced especially for children's porridge. It contained powdered milk and was easy to prepare, an important factor especially for families in the cities of the 19th century who couldn't get fresh, clean milk. The company is still an international giant and it's founder and factory were honored on a stamp in 2016. I found the scan of an old advertisement showing the bird's nest logo.
