Thematic : Umbrellas On Stamps.

Liechtenstein has issued many stamps featuring national cultural treasures. In 2018 the marvelous tapestries depicting scenes in China were chosen. "Audience with the Emperor of China" dates back to the beginning of the 18th century; the visitor is a person of rank in a fancy rickshaw and has an umbrella carrier. Can you imagine how long it must have taken to weave a painting like this? It measures about 10X17 feet. One in a set of three stamps.

A whole conglomerate of paintings by the impressionist Gustave Caillebotte decorate this souvenir sheet issued for Mozambique in 2011. The one with the folks on a rainy day in Paris has appeared earlier on the thread.

A sheet of four impressionists put together for Togo; the rainy day in Paris by Caillebotte makes up the background.

The newest Caillebotte "Rainy Day" was issued this year for Sierra Leone. Part of a set of four in a souvenir sheet.

Togo also did a souvenir sheet for Caillebotte, showing the Rainy Day in Paris on one of the four stamps. 2017.

This Rainy Day in Paris is somehow different: a mirror image! For Tchad in 2002. The stamp itself shows one of the artist's paintings of rowers at Yerres.

The British Virgin Islands issued stamps for the Queen's 90th birthday showing her in perfect style, here in white with a white umbrella. And another photograph I found on the web.

Hello, Alexey, That's a pretty Manet - I found a scan of the original. It looks like a Greenhouse/Conservatory in which one can keep tropical plants. The painting is now in Berlin. Wiki has an interesting article about it.

I don't see the figures as stiff, I see her away somewhere in thought, considering whatever her husband is discussing.
The implied intimacy, and the ring fingers had me wondering, but explained in wiki.

Another souvenir sheet with the pretty design made for Togo in 2017. Of course it's Monet, and in this one he looks well on in age.

Edgar Degas's (1834-1917) painting of the ballerina with the umbrellas in the background was seen on page two. (This print on the Ras al Khaimah stamp of 1968 cannot match the French quality.)
