There are a couple of Collection & Distribution Wagon covers from Washington, D.C. listed on the internet ranging from $75 to $100. The $75 cover on ebay is offered by a very knowledgeable cover dealer. The New York Wagon is a much scarcer marking than are those from DC. I'd also think that the postal card is a slight minus, while the German destination a big plus.

thank you Jarnick, so you encountered the same, finding the DC ones but not the NY ones. for now I am leaning to the 100$ mark, but would like to know a bit more how scarce they are.

My father collected RFD's for years and I know for a fact he never found this one. He had multiple Carroll County Md postal wagons as well as Wash., DC. examples. I would think $ 100.00 is about right value wise but you never know what will happen in an auction. Are there any markings on the reverse.

Nice find !

Rich60, thank you for this info, it helps.
no markings on the back, just a date (19-10-1896) and a written note in German
