I'm looking for info on the Barbados Samuel Type Proofs overprinted Specimen. I've seen some interesting examples from the early 1920s, but I can't say I know anything about them. What are their story? Why were they printed? Who was Samuel? Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

After a little more googling, I gather that Samuel typing is a classification system for Commonwealth proofs. Is that correct?

I think Samuel refers to Marcus Samuel who codefied the British specimen stamps. There is his catalogue on the subject.
