Verrrrrry strange. Why would the U.S. Postal Service sanction, or promote an "authentic replica", i.e., counterfeit of its product? |

blcjr, I understand and agree. It just seems to me that someone higher up in the marketing division of USPS would have objected to the idea of getting people to think about counterfeiting (making their own authentic replicas for fun and profit) postage stamps.
After all, the toy trucks were very likely produced in China. Isn't that where most, or almost all of contemporary counterfeit U.S. stamps are produced? |

Quote: "Authentic Replica of a Famous US Postage Stamp" Yes, the 1996 Endangered Species stamps are extraordinarily famous. Right up there with the Zepps and the Inverted Jenny. |

Maybe of interest to those who collect fake stamps and forgeries. |

Quote: how many of you buy this stuff like a truck? I think the only USPS knickknack I've ever bought was the magnet with the image of the 1997 Bela Lugosi Dracula stamp, which is still on my refrigerator today. I also have a set of plastic mugs featuring the 1989 Prehistoric Animals stamp designs, but I think those were a gift. |

I have all kinds of die cast postal related vehicles. They are fun to collect and some of the early Davo ones are quite expensive.
They all sit in the boxes on top of my album bookshelves. |

My wife thinks it is strange for grown men to collect toy cars! (But this is probably because she wants them out of her living room.) Dutch, I only collect Studebaker models, do you know if there is a 1963 USPS Zip Van model? Don |

Since I don't remember ever having seen the vehicle in question, curiosity got the better of me. I "Googled" Studebaker zip van and found some interesting information, including the fact that a total of only 4328 of these vehicles were produced. It appears to be sought after by some car collectors. Good luck to Don in his quest to find one! |

I have never seen or heard of the model.
Original vans do come up for sale periodically but some are quite rough. |
