With all recent posts about sellers that should be avoided, I wanted to share one I just stumbled across. They have an impressive stock (at least for ebay) with lots of more expensive items and many with certs. I have not yet purchased from them, so I cannot comment on service, but there is a clear return policy, the lots are mostly "Buy It Now", and prices usually $100-400, which is very reasonable for the material offered. https://www.ebay.com/sch/buystamps/...047675.l2562*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

I took a look through their offerings and my first thought is that I would probably pay less for most of the items at a regular auction. The number 1 in the link below is a good example. A nice four margin example with a cert and a nice cancel at a regular Siegel auction would hammer for around $225 + 18% to equal about $270. I just do not see any adavantage to buying on ebay. Genuine fault free material is priced at or in most cases above a regular auction house or good brick and mortar store. This seller has been around for a while now; typically has a lot of intermediate and a few better items, some with certs (as you noted), but usually centering ranges from off to godawful. I have not bought from this seller because I haven't found anything of theirs that I needed that was decently centered. Your centering tolerance may be different than mine, of course. I have no reason to believe there is any problem with this seller. |

Quote: I took a look through their offerings and my first thought is that I would probably pay less for most of the items at a regular auction. Well, yes, that's true but the dealer stocks those items for the other 364 days of the year that somebody is looking for a particular stamp. The dealer still has a place in the hobby, even with ebay, the internet, and SAN. |

I just find it interesting that some sellers with a lot of valuable stock list under just an ebay name. Yes, we know some that use many ebay names but would expect the more honest ones to better represent themselves. In this case, all we know is the seller is an APS member. |

(emphasis added) So just because I list on ebay as "revenue-collector" rather than as "danharding" I'm being dishonest? Thanks for that, Mr. Angore. |

I agree with revenuecollector/danharding that this is a non-issue. Some highly respected top-drawer dealers are on ebay in "true name" (Rupp Brothers, e.g.) and just as many others are there in ebay "alias" only (Century Stamps and Stanley Piller, e.g.). |

In support of Sinclair's point, this particular dealer has material that you might wait months or even a couple years to show up at auction (e.g. 368v coil with cert. So although you could win similar things at auction and often for less, for a dealer, thus ones selection is good and prices are reasonable IMHO. |
