I was a little concerned as the listing pictures were fairly tiny, but there was enough potentially there to warrant a bit of a gamble. Not just some great cancels, but some better stamps as well.

The majority of the ones that I feared might be cut cancelled appear not to be.

Great eclectic mix.

The red handstamp on the customs cigarette stamp means that it is a Class B provisional on the Class A series of 1879.

I don't have the Springer catalog with these (I assume they're Springer material) and I can't find it on Eric's website. Common? Scarce?

Not super scarce, probably a $10-$15 item today. Nice condition though for a taxpaid.

On the fourth page, is the 2 cents orange stamp on the right side with the blue/green looking paper a special variety?
There is a similar one on the first page at the top, but it looks like it has white paper.

The one on the first page is R135 (grey paper) and the one on the fourth page is R151 (green paper). Both very common.

What would the "ocean" cancel signify?

The ship 'OCEAN QUEEN' from the Pacific Mail Steamship Co. That stamp is a $150+ item by itself.

See my reference page on Pacific Mail Steamship cancels here:

The lumber cancel next to it is probably scarcer, although worth less money.

Yep. Those 2 items are primarily the reason I bid on the lot. That lumber dealer cancel is a great strike of a large-format cancel. I've not seen it before.

Neither have I, although that is really not all that surprising. After all, there are millions of cancels out there.
