Looks to me like this early Fiji issue was postmarked at "NAUSORIPOR".
Haven't found any references to Nausoripor, only to Nausori.
Given that the "-por" is a common ending to placenames in India & Indians have been an important population group in Fiji, was Nausoripor the early name for Nausori?
Any help appreciated.

Hi EdziuMM,

Google shows an action image of a strip of three Fournier forged stamps and postmarks which look every similar to your item (including the stamp value and at least the month on the CDS date.)

The catalogue refers to this being the "bogus 'NAUSORI POR' cds".

I guess this is just "Nausori Town".

I've no idea if there was such a genuine postmark with this wording.

Hey, thank you both for the detective work! (I glory in detective work!)
I'm happy to know that I have a genuine forgery!

Here's the genuine, with remainder cancel as noted in the reference:

Still pretty crude-looking versus Commonwealth stamps of the same time frame.

There is a little bit more about the favor cancels at this old thread:

Since the image is already in the system, I might as well throw it up here, too:

The cancel shown in the original post is listed as number 159 in "Madame Joseph Revisited" by Brian Cartwright, published by the Royal Philatelic Society London in 2005.

Has any member purchased the Klaseboer CD Rom?
It came up often in my early days of searching info.
Any reviews?

I bought both of them a year or 2 ago. I find them very useful and there is a lot of info in them about forgeries and german local issues. I use it next to my scott classic catalog. I also like that they are written in HTML so I have put them on my webserver to access from anywhere (with VPN because I guess it's not allowed to host it for the whole world). I'm also in the process of adding notes to it about my own collection.
