What an amazing menagerie.
Here are some ptarmigan from Newfoundland




I have to admit, that little red kiwi stamp from New Zealand has always been one of my favourites.
The birds down under all seem soooo exotic. But we have some interesting fowl here in Canada too.




These have become quite rare.

Interesting bird, prefers running to flying.
With Darwin in mind, possibly an example
where a bird would become flightless, given time
(and hunters didn't blast it to bits)

Here is an image of a stamp depicting a Salvin's prion (Pachyptila salvini), up close and personal, engraved by Claude Andréotto, and issued for use in the French Southern and Antarctic Territories in November, 1994, Scott No. 197.
