This computer-vended stamp of Portugal shows a profile of a male Eurasian, or common teal (Anas crecca) in nuptial plumage. This highly gregarious duck ranges through much of the old world. It was given its scientific name by Carl Linnaeus in his 1758 edition of "Systema Naturae". The stamp was issued on 5 September 2000. Note that it is denominated in both Escudos ($) and Euros. There is also a version with a smaller size printing of the stamp value (approx. 50% the size of computer printing on this stamp).  |
