I think I'll look that one up in Scott... Hmmm, $27.50 for a mint sheet, $32.50 perf 11 1/4x11. Perhaps when income starts rolling in again... Look at all the state birds that are Cardinals!

Very observant, Nells250, in fact there are 7 States with cardinals. In the literature that came with the sheet Arthur and Alan Singer explain how this posed a problem as they wanted each state to have an individual stamp. They are the first known father and son team to work on stamp designs: the father did the birds first and then the son added the flowers.

All of the original paintings were 4 x 8 inches, Arthur Singer knows birds: in the 1960's he apparently published two books: "Birds of the world" and "Guide to the birds of North America".

It eats insects and it has very big feet.

I like those stamps, the duck and the Jacana.
I like the extra bit of margin on the duck stamp. It makes it feel like the duck was really flying a long way.
I really like that one Jacana stamp has a nice postmark.
I collect postmarks also. They tell you where a stamp was posted from.
