Yup, I got a few when I first joined the APS too.
I doubt Mystic gave your name to anyone - they want you all to themselves

Wheelman, if you signed up with StampWorld.com then I would point an accusing finger at them. Same happened to me shortly after I signed up, also to several friends under the same circumstances. |

I signed on for StampWorld some time ago but have never received anything like that. Perhaps this is because I have never filled in the pop-up window that keeps asking for my countries of collecting interest. Also, I tend to use their catalogue only for countries where I only have a peripheral interest so no particularly interesting history is built up by my usage. |

Their terms and conditions, in broken English, states that they reserve the right to sell your information. Don |

I believe if you even utter the word "Mystic" in public, they reserve the right to send you unsolicited approvals.
(Joking, but they REALLY want you as part of their approval "machine".)
I've read horror stories about the difficulties people have had getting off the approvals list and reconciling amounts owed, etc.
I know some people love Mystic for all the APS members they recruit, but frankly I abhor their business model. Like H.E. Harris before them, and Littleton Coin Co., they make their bread and butter by fleecing beginners on exorbitantly overpriced material. That, along with the questionable claims in some of their advertisements, makes them a company I will never purchase from. |

Hello everyone - my name is Jessica and I'm from Mystic Stamp. Mystic sends small trial selections on approval after someone answers one of our low-priced advertised offers. We don't send stamps on approval to anyone without that person first contacting us.
wheelman - if you are receiving Mystic approvals and don't want them, feel free to email me your name and address and I'll happily close your account! JLJ@MysticStamp.com |
