I inherited a stamp collection/accumulation from my brother who collected stamps for over 50 years and had a stamp business in the mid 1970's. I've started to organize it and have some questions on what to spend time on. His collection includes several boxes of loose stamps from all over the world sent to him over the years that have been torn off of envelopes, several boxes of loose stamps not on paper in small vellum envelopes, old stamp albums, first day issue covers, plate blocks and full sheets of unused stamps (mostly US) and some old stamp albums with a few stamps in them. Has anyone used the Stamp Manager software? This is very over-whelming! Hope the picture downloads work. Where do I start!!

Hi and welcome. Whole lot of material. I would put your pictures and questions in the 'Have you inherited some stamps" forum.

Lwr, based simply on the existence in your collection of the 'Encyclopedia of the Colors ...', I would say that your brother might have spent serious money on stamps. As such, the first thing would be to post here detailed pictures of ALL stamps from the albums - a rule of thumb, older and more basic a stamp looks, the higher might be the price of it (with stress on "might")
Once you post the images, the very knowledgeable people of this forum will be able to say 'yes, it's worth', or 'not'. From there, your options will be much clearer - dealers, auction houses, etc.

PS: If you decide to sell the 'Encyclopedia of the Colors...' then I am interested

How do I get my post into the inherited Stamps Forum? Sorry, new to website. Have lots of questions on how to organize and store the collection. There are way too many stamps to put a picture for each one, that's why I was asking if anyone used the Stamp Manager software. I'm not advertising to sell or buy. I will hold my questions so that I can post in the correct forum. Any help is appreciated.

Pictures - one page at the time, otherwise it will take you ages
If you post a page at a reasonable resolution then people can recognize the stamps worth spending time and money on.

The sheets and margin blocks are very common and if you wanted to sell as a group you would not likely get face value. It looks like care was taken to keep them.
