Rod, the five items on your last page marked " meter labels" are actually computer vended stamps (or labels, if you prefer). One defining difference between a computer vended stamp and a meter is that computer vended stamps/labels can be used at any time after purchase, whereas a meter is intended to be used (it is dated and coded) at the specific time and place of purchase.

The four digit number at the bottom of the stamp (0017) is the vending machine/location number.

Bob,
thanks very much for the correction, I felt a bit of a query when I was typing.

I'll change my page. (adhere the correction over)

Still uneasy about your definition?
On thinking about it, would a "Meter Stamp " not be an impression on a cover by way of a machine leased by the company in question?

I cannot think of a situation whereby a computer vended stamp/label would not be placed on a cover immediately, by PO staff.
(In other words, used later)

Thoughts?

Rod, I think a big point of confusion is based on 2 things: 1.) the fact that self-adhesive meters and shipping labels are omnipresent and they are all made by a computer driven printer, and 2.) stamp collectors tend to think of computer-vended stamps as framas with water soluble gum.

Singapore's computer-vended stamps have always been the self-adhesive type, the first design being issued in 1988. There have been 13 or 14 other designs since that time.

In some countries, computer-vended stamps can be applied by the postal clerk from his/her machine. In most countries where these stamps are sold, it is from stand alone machines in malls and airports, in addition to post office lobbies.

The 1955 set is one of my all time favorites.

As for the computer-vended stamps, they are also sold from self-service kiosks with backing paper still on so unused are like European ATM vended stamps. All listed in Michel catalog, but only footnoted in Gibbons and ignored by Scott.

Marvelous.
Thank you gentlemen.
Shall place commentaries (edited) on my page.

I was thinking of my own experience, where the computer issued stamps are linked to the weight scales.

Rod if you are interested in the ATM labels as a part of your collection, then get a copy of the Michel ATM catalog. Latest version is from 2013 and it really is the "Bible" for global ATM stamps since Gibbons and Scott ignore them except for their own home countries. It's the only catalog outside the ACSC that covers Australian Framas for example. I got a copy and it opened a whole new area of collecting interest for me.

Being a Worldwide collector, it is very easy to get into strife.
Forgetting stuff, misplacing stuff, confusing information.

"Jack of all trades...master of none"

I have no doubt Michel, is the "go to", I have Catalogues from "Postmaster" and find them extremely good, apart from their "Blocks" regime.

I do have an ATM catalogue, as it turns out, completely forgot about it.
Not as good as Michel however.

Thanks for the nudge in the ribs.

Hi Rod. Nice pages. The issue dates in your LG Frama catalog are at odds with Michel. Michel lists "Sunny Singapore" as 19 May 1997, and "Healthy Singapore" as 8 November 2000.

Michel lists all kinds of information on these including values available, quantities printed (unfinished labels as opposed to quantities actually sold), and print varieties. Here is one for the "Healthy Singapore" series. Printers were formatted to print differently; some used decimalized values and some did not.
