I remember someone here mentioning the Digital Blue Microscope......Am I right?
I was wondering who mentioned it, and if it works ok. Did it do what you wanted it to do? Was it easy to use?

I would like to get a microscope, and I have been looking online at them, the price for most of them is way beyond my means, especially when I really don't need it to do anything that fancy. Just enough to get some good close ups of stamp varieties, (errors) etc.
If you are using one for that reason, then you know what I am looking for.

Any ideas?

Any brand or size would do, as long as the price is reasonable. Say, no more then $100.00. That can be Canadian or US Funds.

Thanks
Suzanne

tina has a Digital Blue and I believe she got it for a very good price somewhere and loves it. I have a 30X "GeoScope" from the Wal-Mart toy section that I paid $10.00 that is a bit of a hassle to use but it does work in a pinch and you can't beat the price.

OH wow! For $10.00 I will put up with a bit of a hassle. Wonder if they have it in our Wal-Mart store. It's my favourite shopping place. Only 10 minutes away.
Gee, if it was open all night, I'd head over there now, but it closed at 9pm. That was 2 hours ago. Sigh, guess I will just have to wait. hehehe!

Doodles one of our club members brought in a microscope which attaches to his laptop at meetings..i saw what it does to a stamp at 8 x times and I cannot imagine needing any more magnification than that..the stamp filled the laptop screen ! we asked where he got it..he said he shopped the internet..where there are all kinds of prices...he paid 75 dollars for one which sells for over a hundred..they are out there !!

I got mine on ebay about 2 years ago for less than $100, and I believe that prices have come down since then. Do a search for "usb microscope" and see what comes up.

G'Day Suzanne just as a matter of interest I have a digi blue that I use just for that reason and that is to fine errors in the stamps, the last one I posted was an R8c which is a revenue stamp, this was suppose to have a double and the digi blue confirmed it didn't.
The first photo is of the microscope then I'll post a photo of what you can expect using a microscope, this one is magnified at 10X.

I do have a stamp that was magnified at 60X an early 1cent,sorry I can't remember which one it was but it had an error that you can only see with a microscope.

There is another thread with the photo's of the format of the digi blue and what it looks like on screen but with the alzheimer's I can't remember what thread it's on.

regards Harry

Thanks everyone. Now I HAVE to have it. Wow! It's fantastic. I think I will hint, hint, hint, to my daughter and son-in-law that this is what I would like Santa to bring me for Christmas. I hope it's in Canada.
I can't wait to get started using it.

Bye for now
Suzanne
