Audetnelson1 here are four examples of Vincent Graves Greene Philatelic Research Foundation Certificates. They will give you an idea of what you might find on a certificate. Two pink certificates indicate the alterations made to the stamps. The green certificates also have a fair amount of information on genuine un-altered stamps. These should give you an idea of how the certificates describe the stamps.

I have not seen a forgery certificate but I would expect it to have the word forgery on the document.

Just received the answer directly from the VGG and I want to share it with you. So if I understand corectly when yhou buy a stamp with a pink cert you don t have any certification you buy the real thing ! that can be a fake a forgery and no mention of that on the cert ! I was in the sport cards during the last 27 years and its very different with the service of third party grading like PSA. When you bought a card graded by psa you can buy it with peace in mind you are sure you buy a REAL card. Different hobby different way to do...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for your enquiry.
The following describes the types of certificates that we issue:

The Greene Foundation issues a genuine certificate, green colour, where the stamp or cover is genuine and it is either fault free or has faults such as a tear, thinned paper, disturbed original gum, missing perforations, or other faults which have not been repaired.
Where a stamp on or off cover has faults which, in the opinion of the Expert Committee, have been repaired with the intention of deceiving a collector, then these alterations are described and a pink certificate declaring a lack of genuineness, is issued. Such repairs include removal of a cancel, regumming, repair of tear, addition of margins, rebacking a stamp, alteration of the issued colour, and addition of a stamp to a cover on which it did not originate.
If a submitter disagrees with the opinion of the Expert Committee, the opinion will be reviewed upon the request of the submitter at no extra charge.

If an item is a forgery we would return it with a Pink certificate that describes the problem(s) with the stamp, but it would not necessarily refer to the item as a "Forgery".

The only time that material is returned without a certificate is when the Committee decides to offer "No Opinion" on the submitted items. In this instance the Fee for the item is refunded.

I hope this information will be helpful to you.
Regards,
Margaret Schulzke

The cigarette cards that I've seen on ebay UK that have been "graded" by PSA have been overpriced, common stuff placed in a plastic slab. I remain grateful that this US practice hasn't crossed the Atlantic!

The original question has been answered many times now, why ask it over and over?

An expertizing committee provides an expert opinion. Such a committee has the discretion to write whatever it decides is appropriate to describe the item.
