The Sky Disc is one of the most important archaeological finds of the past century. It displays the world's oldest known concrete depiction of astronomical phenomena (1,600 BC). Its significance is reflected by its inclusion into the UNESCO's Memory of the World register in June 2013. Two swords, two ax heads, a chisel and two spiral armbands were found at the same site in eastern Germany. They can be seen at the State Museum of Prehistory in Halle. (Note: the photograph was taken before the restoration of the sun, which had been damaged by illegal excavators.)

The stamp in honor of Saint Bonfatius (Boniface) shows a bishop's miter pierced by a sword. Bonifatius was an English missionary and reformer, often called the apostle of Germany for his role in the Christianization of that country and the establishment of numerous bishoprics. He was murdered by pagans in 754. The miter and sword on the stamp are embossed.

The statue of Vercingetorix in Clermont-Ferrand is a work done by Auguste Bartholdi (1834-1904), the sculptor who did Lady Liberty. The statue is awsome, way up on a pedestal of columns in the town square.

Philip II, or Philippe Auguste, (1165-1223), was the first of the great Capetian kings of medieval France. He gradually reconquered French territories held by England. He was a major figure in the Third Crusade to the Holy Land in 1191. The Battle of Bouvines ended the Anglo-French War in favor of the French.

Hugues Capet, (938—996), was king of France from 987 to 996. The Capetian dynasty derived its name from his nickname ("cape"). Hugues was elected king by the assembly of Frankish magnates and high clergy.

Clovis I (466-511), king of the Franks, is considered the founding father of the Merovingian dynasty, which would continue for over 200 years. By the time of his death he had become the first king to rule over all the Frankish tribes and had accepted Christianity. Stamp of 2012 shows him at the battle of Vouille and at his baptism in Reims.

and again the artist Viktor Vasnetsov: Fight of the Slavs with the nomads (Battle of the Slavs with the Scythians).

In the late 19th century, several rich Scythian mounds were excavated in Russia.
The treasures of the Scythian mounds are now striking with their craftsmanship and historical accuracy.

The artist saw these finds and very accurately depicted the participants in the battle, but he did not know that the Scythians had disappeared from the South Russian steppes for 1000 years before the arrival of the Slavs
