Scythian warriors in combat dress.

if you look closely at their hats, you can find some similarities with the hat of Odin

there are the real Scythian hats from the Pazyryk barrows. They were preserved due to permafrost and are absolutely similar to Odin's hat

A very special Spanish hero is of course Don Quixote. The stamp honors Jules Massenet (1842-1912), the French composer who wrote the music to the opera celebrating the adventures of the Don and his companion Sancho.

The "Reiterstein von Hornhausen" was found in 1874 by farmers plowing their field. Hornhausen lies between Hannover and Berlin. The stone measures 78 X 66 cm and must have been much larger because it is only a fragment. It dates from the 7th or 8th century and shows a warier with pike, sword and shield above an intricate nordic pattern. Stamp of 1970.

Olaf (995-1030) was king of Norway from 1015 to 1028. In 1030 he was killed in the Battle of Stiklestad. He is usually shown with a weapon and a cross because he was a champion for the Christianization of Norway and became the country's patron saint. Stamps of 1930.

Olaf the Holy is a very revered in Russia saint. There were churches in his honor in Novgorod and Ladoga. He lived for some time at the court of the Grand Duke Yaroslav the Wise in Kiew.

There is a legend that he had an affair with wife of Yaroslav -- Princess Ingigerd, who was supposed to marry him earlier.

In honor of Ingigerd, territories in the west of Russia are called Ingermanlandia, its her dowry from the Swedish king. Existing stamps of 1920 issued in this territory.

In Finland there is a fortress of Olaf,

and the tower of St. Olaf serves as the main decoration of the city of Vyborg.

View from the tower to the city and from the city to the tower

Encounter of worlds would rather say encounter of weapons.
These stamps depicts battle scenes around the time of the Opium Wars.
The weapons are in sharp contrast just like the previous Mexico stamp.

Indian warriors in the same period are basically in the same inferior situations as Chinese fighting against guns with cold weapons, only the cold weapons are of different styles, showing different national characteristics.
