Dave and all;
I've spotted a simple yet essential mistake in my former reply; the writing direction is indeed
from RIGHT to LEFT, and apologies to Dave for causing confusion. The original post has been corrected to avoid any further confusion...

I have checked my Shimomura catalogue for any further information on this label without success. Also very little information on the Web about the Kiryu Export Silk Fabric Industrial Association, with only traces of evidence that this association did exist at least at Showa 9; there is a record that the director of the association donated some fabric products to the Showa emperor.
I also have found that the Articles of Association (AoA) of this association is preserved in an AoA archive at Nagoya University (see link below), but the date of issue is noted as "unknown". However, judging from the other AoA documents in that archive, it is very likely that this association did exist in the early Showa period.
http://www.nul.nagoya-u.ac.jp/erc/c...I-teikan.pdfIt is quite amazing to see that there's so little information on these pretty labels, even with quite evident origin of their issue ! (and this is where there's still plenty of fun)
Sorry again for the mess.

P.S. Some addition to the history of Association; just found this article stating the establishment of the association to be 1932 (=Showa 7). Listed in Table 3, third entry.
