Plenty of USC sections that apply to these individuals. An ip address is not sufficient to hide behind.

He has been dodging the law (sometimes successfully, sometimes not) for several decades. For example, he was found guilty in the USA back in 1988 of 6 counts wire fraud relating to stamps and got a 18 month prison term. In one particularly classless crime, he built time in Maidstone Prison for forgery using the identities of dead Irish babies.

He counts on people being 'afraid' of his retributions and on not bothering to legally chase him down half way around the globe. It works.

Phil_Atelic,
Just a word of advice, find either good sellers or start using an agent to make your purchases. You are making significant investments here and buying from unknown ebay sellers is just nuts. Buying from good sellers like ClarkF, Dan, Eric Jackson, etc will allow you to buy without the fear of being ripped off.

You will rarely find 'bargains' with a good seller, they know what they have and what it is worth. Fishing for stamp bargains from unknown sellers on ebay is a sure way to get ripped off. I think one of the greatest sins we make in this community is touting an ebay bargain. Of course there are a few stamp/cover bargains found every day on ebay; but the vast majority are not. ebay is fine if a person is buying 'bulk' inexpensive stamps at low risk. But this is not you, you are making significant investments in single stamps. Given the sellers you have mentioned, including the ones who you have said were 'good', I fear that bad buying decisions will eventually cause you to become disillusioned with the hobby.

Thank you Don, I appreciate the advice. How can I contact the sellers that you mentioned?

Very good advice from Don.

I would also suggest getting to know Stanley Piller (He has perhaps the best classic US stock on earth), Siegel Auctions in NY City, Jim Lee, and there are some others depending upon where you are located.

Lesson learned, thankful that there was no monetary loss and only the smallest effort on my part to accomplish the refund.

You know, I wish there was a "one stop shop" list of reputable dealers/sellers aka the list Don posted...is that something the stampcommunity.org admins can do? Like a pinned thread or something? Maybe even do one for "do not use these sellers" aka cartel people. Knowledge is power!

The problem with such lists is that they are strongly influenced by personal bias, both for and against certain dealers/sellers. The result is a list that may not benefit the user as much as he/she thinks.

Knowledge is power but that age-old refrain is meant to encourage the collector to learn about stamps not to be led around by the nose.
