Thought I would combine these seperate threads into one topic. These five stamps were just purchased on ebay from the Cartel. Take a look. Research the cartel/Philip Ryle on SCF and arm yourself with knowedge. Do not be another victim.

Stamp shows the hallmarks of a cartel stamp.

But listing shows a store front and other items in their sale are low end items.

Also seller seems fairly new.

Yes. Stampdeals is a cartel ID that has been dormant. Good eye.

Thanks for posting that list, uboatnut. As a "just dipping my toe into the ebay stamp waters" person, that's very good information to know.

Be very careful! If you have any doubts on lots, or sellers, start a thread on your questions. Very knowledgeable people and helpful people on this board.

Do discovery and research into the seller as well (or more than) as the stamp(s) you are buying. If you do not know the seller and cannot get any additional info on the seller, then build a relationship over time before committing any significant amounts of money.

It's a good starting point, but the seller keeps adding "new" IDs on a regular basis. His MO is usually the same and after awhile it gets pretty easy to recognize.

I edited uboatnut post to correct two mistakes, those sellers are NOT the cartel.

Here is a more complete listed of names, although I am sure he has many more that have not yet been uncovered. He uses the unknown accounts for shill bidding and to build up for possible future use as seller accounts. I would estimate that he has a total of 40-50 accounts.

kcaramat is correct, anyone who is buying higher end stamps on ebay should become familar with his 'MO' and learn how to spot him. It is actually not too hard but publishing this info will only allow him to improve. If anyone needs assistence they should use this community and ask questions about a listing.

I recall another id something like "hmorgan10"

Yes, I believe that name (which was hmorgan56 before hmorgan10) got changed to another name. Constantly changing names is another method used to keep people guessing. Once a name gets changed I do not think that you can change it back, does anyone know if this is true?

I hope Phil_Atelic follows through and keeps us informed about his experiences with the 9 stamps he purchased from the cartel. I think those of us who are forum regulars understand the cartel but many new visitors don't understand the issues. I feel bad for Phil_Atelic but sharing his experiences may help a lot of other people.

Krelyea and the other members who have interest and or participated in the numerous threads, in case you missed it the update regarding the seven purchases from cartel is a full refund as of yesterday. Thankfully ebay is aware of the dubious and ujnscrupulous

Unscrupulous practices and hopefully will be taking action.

ebay has been aware for a decade. The stamps are currently for sale again. They were up for sale before you even received them. Glad you made out OK. Philip Ryle without a doubt followed this forum and took preemptive action. Gauranteed that one year from now the Cartel will still be happily selling on ebay and ebay will still be "aware" of the situation.
