Since I am just starting inventory on my Turkey stamps, I would like to submit for your help in finding the proper Scott cat number. I do not have Michel. I did go through my Scott catalogue and these appear 1913 stamps of Constantinople P.O., with one overprint (2) and overprint+ additional overprint carmine - Thank You !

Hi Renden!!

Welcome to Turkey. Always nice to see a new face in the area...

(If you're not a big drinker - you will be soon!!)

In order, from top to bottom:

Scott # 328

Scott # 414

Scott # 332

Rene,
hopefully I have this right.
The regime for Turkish overprints, becomes easier if you adopt this style of regime.

1.Note the Scott "type" (A22)
2. Note the Overprint / s (subtext: Note the "star")

here you have 2 stars, the 6 pointed star comes before the sharp 5 pointed star

Note the "discount" overprint hiding also (the "u" shaped forme with dot )

Then using Scott, go to the shapes of the Opts and look for A22 types.
You can still get into heaps of trouble, it can be very tricky sometimes.
Good Luck

Thanks Rod and mdroth !
Even if I question Scott cat I am keeping your numbers

from left to right:

328 is A22 5pa ocher with proper star, single overprint carmine - Scott mixes me up as it mentions an additional overprint (like the one on 414)????? and there is none Thanks!

332 is A22 2pi indigo with proper star and same comment as 328....no add overprint Thanks !

414 is A22 1pi ultra with different star, OK, with add overprint carmine - Scott does not mention color (blck or carmine)but shows pic as black ?? 414 is acceptable to me per Scott cat Thanks!

...........and I love people who are funny in their response
b.t.w. I have been to Turkey

René

See...this is the trickery.
One has to go back, through the Catalogue numbers, till you strike the original design overprint.

If you do this with #414 you will see the star and crescent opt with Scott advice "surcharged in red or black"

Michael is polite address of mdroth.

Just about every newbie gets caught with the Scott regime here.
Myself included.

The additional overprint is ONLY for the 3 stamps underneath, THEN it goes back to resume the normal Opt.

The additional is ONLY for these 3 stamps
